About the Overdiplom service

The Overdiplom web service is used to search for and verify data about diplomas issued to graduates of Slovak universities. It makes it possible to verify the existence and basic information about completed university studies based on data provided by the universities of the Slovak Republic themselves.

The operator of the Overdiplom web service is the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic, which ensures the processing of personal data in accordance with applicable legal regulations. The legal basis for the processing of personal data is the fulfilment of the operator's legal obligation and the performance of tasks carried out in the public interest in the exercise of public authority in accordance with Article 6(1)(c) and (e) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation), Act No. 18/2018 Coll. on the Protection of Personal Data and on Amendments to Certain Acts, and Section 132(14) of Act No. 300/2025 Coll. on Universities and on Amendments to Certain Acts (the Universities Act). The personal data made available through the Overdiplom service is obtained from the Central Register of Students, into which it is supplied directly by Slovak universities, which are also responsible for the accuracy, completeness and up-to-dateness of this data. The operator does not create, modify or supplement the data, but makes it available solely to the extent necessary for the purpose of verifying diplomas.

The web service makes available only the essential scope of personal data required to search for and verify a diploma. The service does not process special categories of personal data under Article 9 of the GDPR, nor data such as birth numbers or permanent residence addresses. The data is provided only to a person who knows all the details required to search for a specific diploma.

NOTICE: The operator guarantees the validity of the information provided only when a secure internet connection is used and exclusively within the electronic service. Data that is subsequently printed or otherwise displayed may no longer be trustworthy.
